The Stephen Perse Foundation has entered into an exciting new partnership with professional netball team benecosMavericks.
benecosMavericks are one of the the most successful and longest running netball franchises in the country, and this partnership will provide our already high-achieving netball teams with a valuable opportunity to learn from the experts.
Our netball teams secured two places at Regionals in January 2018.
The U16 tournament was a round-robin format, so they played seven teams and lost only one game by one goal. This meant that they were runners up and gained a place in the Regional tournament.
The U14 competition was in two pools; we made it through to the semis and then on to a nail-biting final that saw us go ahead and then behind, but sheer determination and some excellent decision-making led us to victory and being crowned County Champions!
A mixed team of Senior School runners took part in the annual Cambridge Schools District Cross Country Championships at Netherhall School on 5 December. Four SPF runners cemented their places in the Cambridge District team to compete in the County Championships.
Back in October the U11 girls finished runners up at the regional round of the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) hockey tournament. This was a very exciting day and although the girls were beaten in the final, they soon cheered up as it was announced that they had qualified for the National Finals!
The National Finals took place on Friday 10th November at Millfield School near Glastonbury. A total of 28 schools from across England and Scotland made up the four groups of qualified teams and the girls knew this was a chance to test themselves against the very best.
The girls qualified for the Plate Competition and went all the way to the final, finishing as very deserving runners up in the Plate Competition. Well done girls.
Anna took part in the GTI (Global Taekwondo International) British Open competition in Cheltenam.
Competing in 4th to 1st Kup (the top junior belt division), Anna won the British sparring title for the girls 13-16 category, adding to her success at the English Open Championships in October.
What a fantastic achivement for Anna, who is now the British Champion.
Annis Williams has been selected to train with benecosMavericks Superleague netball team as part of the Mavericks Futures academy. The exciting network of academies is made up of talented netballers ages 14 - 18, with the aim of providing more young girls with the opportunity to fulfil their netball potential. This is an exciting opportunity, Annis is definitely one to watch in the future!
Running, riding, swimming and shooting success for Ella Zatouroff this Tetrathlon season.
Ella had an impeccable start to the season, representing the East of England in the Regional Tetrathlon event. In the Regional trials, Ella was the highest ranked girl from her squad. She went on to win her area competition which qualified her to compete in the Tetrathlon National Championships. Once again she was ranked highest girl for the East of England and came in the top third overall.
As a result of her impressive success, she then went on to represent the United Kingdom at the Irish International Tetrathlon event where her team placed second overall.

Senior School pupils and sisters Florence (Year 7) and Bethany (Year 9) are enjoying continued success in the Eastern Cyclo-cross League, with Bethany also competing in the Cyclo-Cross National Trophy.
Florence is currently ranked 1st in the girls U12 age group and 4th overall in the Cyclo-Cross League.
As part of the National Trophy race series, Bethany also took part in the Crosstober Wales and finished an impressive 11th out of 27 competitors. In the Youth Girls category Bethany is ranked a strong 5th.
Great performances at the National Schools Equestrian Association at Addington Manor. Congratulations to Frankie, Lauren, Alexandra, Anna and Arabella who all qualified for the NSEA National Championships at Addington Manor that took place in October. It's a real achievement to reach this is national event that showcases the Dressage, Arena Eventing and Show Jumping disciplines.
On Wednesday 15 November, Senior School student Millie qualified as a National Finalist in the British Shooting Schools Pistol Championships 2017/18. The Finals will take place on Wednesday 17 January at Stoke Mandeville Stadium, Buckinghamshire. Well done Millie!
