For the launch of their 10 week Go4SET project, Year 9 students vist ARM
Last week, fourteen Year 9 students visited ARM to attend the launch of the STEM project 'Go4SET'. Go4SET is a 10 week project which links teams of students with empolyers and universities to encourage the pupils to take Science, Tachnology, Engineering and Mathmatics (STEM) for further study.
For the first session, the students learnt about the Go4SET scheme and how to work in teams and manage their project.
This year we have two teams working with local company 'FlexEnable' and ARM. ARM technology is at the heart of computing and connectivity. ARM is also a leading company in the design of low power microchips which they claim are in nearly all mobile phones across the whole world. 'FlexEnable' is a leading technology provider that develops flexible organic electronics. Our students feel incredibly lucky to be working in such close quaters with these leading companies.
Mr Roger Bett, Design Curriculum Leader and Integrated Projects Coordinator at the Stephen Perse Foundation, is really excited to promote this project:
"Go4SET is a brilliant scheme which allows students an insight into the world of STEM careers. The students really enjoy working together in small teams with mentors from companies solving real world problems".
Our students will present their projects at the CAD event in Luton at the end of March so keep an eye out for further developments.
We cannot wait to see how their project materialises!
