KS1 students experience what life was like in the Victorian times at Audley End
Last week, KS1 visited Audley End House and beautiful gardens. They had a busy time exploring the nursery in the house, learning about how children were schooled and the different games they played in the Victorian times. After a picnic lunch, the children then had a tour of the dairy, kitchen and laundry, learning about the different foods Victorians enjoyed and were astonished that it took a whole week to do a load of washing from start to finish!
The children also had the opportunity to dress up as Victorian servants and participate in different activities such as shoe polishing, flower arranging and laying the table. A great day was had by all and a particular thanks to all the parent helpers who volunteered for this trip!
