Excitement levels were high on Thursday 5 October as the Year 3 pupils from both the Junior School and Dame Bradbury’s boarded the ‘SPF ship’ to set sail upon ‘An Island Adventure’.
Thursday 5 October began with blustery winds and heavy downpours. However, by the time Year 5 pupils from the Junior School and Dame Bradbury's met at Latham Road for their collaborative day, it was sunshine and blue skies.
The week of Outdoor Classroom Day was marked in Science by a series of outdoor activities at Latham Road.
On Monday 16 October pupils in Years 5 & 6 were treated to a wonderful performance of ‘As You Like It’, by HandleBards, a touring theatre company whose troupes travel everywhere on their bikes! We learnt how they had spent four months of the recent summer cycling 1,099 miles all the way from London to Edinburgh.
As part of our celebrations and activities for European Day of Languages on 26 September, the Year 5 and Year 6 classes took part in an international competition organised by E3 trails who make cross-curricular resources for language learning.
Year 1 enjoyed a session during STEAM Week with Mrs Reader learning all about crystals.
On 27 September, RS and Philosophy students in Year 11 and 6th Form engaged in a lecture on 'Christ and the Cosmos' given by Professor Keith Ward, Professorial Research Fellow at Heythrop College, London and former Regius Professor of Divinity, University of Oxford.
On Friday 6 October 2017, Dame Bradbury's U11 Girls football team played at home against Radwinter.
